Romanian Association for Sustainable Agriculture (A.R.A.D.)

The greatest joy and honor would be if we could reduce the sufferings of nature and the rural areas of Romania, especially soil degradation and biodiversity loss, the intensification of extreme weather phenomena, environmental pollution, and the depopulation and poverty of Romanian villages.

In this context, we offer our knowledge and expertise for:

  • The restoration and conservation of ecosystems, especially the capacity to adapt to climate changes;
  • The cultivation of lands, animal husbandry, and the processing and marketing of agricultural and food products in accordance with organic and integrated farming standards;
  • The modernization of rural and suburban localities while preserving traditional material and spiritual values and respecting international standards.

  • Type: Non-Governmental Organization, Apolitical, Non-profit, and Interdisciplinary;
  • Purpose: The promotion of Sustainable Agriculture, the principles, and practices of economically efficient and healthy agriculture for humans and the environment, aimed at conserving or restoring the ecological, economic, and social resources of agriculture, achieving diversified, stable, healthy crops at a cost price accessible to the population and stimulating for agricultural producers, and the modernization of rural and suburban localities while preserving traditional material and spiritual values and respecting national and international standards;

    1. research – design – development for the elaboration and application of sustainable agriculture standards;
    2. consultancy in the design of zonal and local agroecosystems, in the spirit of environmental protection and the organization of integrated agriculture systems;
    3. theoretical and practical training for farmers and other entrepreneurs in the rural environment;
    4. publishing magazines, leaflets, books, and scientific and popularization works in the spirit of conserving and rehabilitating the natural and cultural values of the Romanian village;

    Additionally, the association may establish economic enterprises in the agricultural field, processing, and marketing of agricultural and food products related to the association’s objective.

  • 14 experts and supporters: researchers, university teaching staff, agronomists, horticulturists, zootechnicians, economists, students, etc.;
  • 15 companies and agricultural associations and commercial units that work in the field of field crops, vegetable growing, viticulture, and fruit growing.
